There had been rumors that Transformers 4 was about to start filming at the downtown Detroit set now that the scenes in Adrian had been completed, but a look at the construction shows that they still have a ways to go to complete the transformation of this downtown block into alien-ravaged Hong Kong! The arrival of the large blue space ship was pretty exciting though, and it certainly adds to the spectacle. I’m guessing, however, that it won’t remain this bright blue for long, and that the crew will go to work to make it look a little more alien over the coming week.

Other signs of Hong Kong also appeared on set. A mail box, trash cans, and some great lion sculptures.

Calls for ‘Asian’ extras have been made for the period from July 29 to August 8 or 9, so that seems like the likely timing for the downtown filming. It’s safe to say that residents are pretty excited about this, though it’s unclear how much they will actually get to see.
