At least that’s what we thought! While the movie was still filming in Ann Arbor, I received an email from a friend (Thanks, Suzette!) that residents around Grace St., Northville had received a notice that filming of Project Z would be happening that weekend. One of the fun things about the Summer of Scream was how much everyone enjoyed the buzz around the filming. I was amazed how far and wide my ‘fame’ had grown, and it was fun to get tips from people on where the Project Z trailers would set up next.
I spotted the potential house a few days early due to one truck and a bunch of wiring appearing in the street. It was pretty easy to identify which house it would be — well, look at it! I’d heard it would be mainly night shoots, but setup was obviously happening in the afternoons. By this point we’d expected to see Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell, since their cameos had already been announced. But the first day I got an email saying that two brunettes had been sighted (Thanks, Lisa!) — and these were of course soon identified as Shenae Grimes and Lucy Hale.
Filming took 2 nights. Crowds were small, especially later at night. Most of the filming was done inside the house in the kitchen area. We’ve all seen the trailer now, so we know that a phone call is involved! I heard rumors that the action may have moved out to the porch later on, and it surely isn’t a spoiler to suggest that the girls had a visitor and that the evening didn’t end well?
But was it the opening kill? Or kills? Are the girls in Stab or Woodsboro? Are they Stab actresses playing themselves in Woodsboro? I think someone worked this out from something one of them said, but I’m so confused now that I have no idea! And that’s not a bad thing.
